INFECTION CONTROL
Infection is a major cause of human suffering. Even relatively minor infections can become more serious, leading to major infection and can in extreme cases lead to death. The cost to the health care system of providing care for those with infections is huge. Also, the use of antibiotics to treat these infections is thought to be contributing towards the problems surrounding antibiotic resistance.
Summary: This course covers the relevant legislation, types of infection including MRSA and C Diff, the chain of infection, cross-contamination, and sources. It includes methods of prevention and treatment, the importance of personal hygiene, and waste disposal methods.
